cricket utilitiesI have written a few Cricket utilities and quite a few custom configuration files. They've taken some time to put together, so I'll stick the most generic ones up here for downloading in case someone else would happen to need the same things.
What is Cricket?
"Cricket is a high performance, extremely flexible system for monitoring trends in time-series data. It was expressly developed to help network managers visualize and understand the traffic on their networks, but it can be used for all kinds of other jobs, as well." (from the home page)
The first item is cricket-mysql-dbi, which containts Defaults + targets files for monitoring most MySQL 'show status' items directly using Cricket's SQL interface and DBI/DBD. This is possibly nicer, faster and easier to set up than SNMP to an snmpd and exec'ing 'mysqladmin extended-status'. After you have DBI/DBD and the SQL interface set up, it's pretty easy and cool to monitor your database's contents (number of users/lines/whatever), too. Tested with mysql 4.0.13, 4.0.15a, 4.1.1, and probably works with late 3.x versions too.
