I've already seen the same 'phoenomena' with other RPMs :
- A very-commonly used RPM rather big, called for example libXXXX-3.4kmdk
- And another one, smaller, called libXXXX-devel-3.4kmdk
Maybe this is because there are two needs :
- Linking only when you have to install another RPM depending on XXXX :
Then you need only the xxx.a and xxx.so files.
- Linking and compiling, and then you need as well the xxx.h files.
So, these two RPMS avoid to give the xxx.h files to users who only need
to link,
therefore saving disk space.
But there is maybe another explanation.
