[xfbb] Help neede in running both daemon and xwindow versions

List members,

A few weeks ago, I put a post on the list asking if it is possible to run both the xwindows and the
daemon versions of FBB on the same system, using the same file structures.

Apparently several of you are doing this, and said it works just fine.

I also asked exactly how to accomplish this and the answers were
non existent.

Here is what I did, and I can certainly tell you that this does not work.

First I installed XFBB the x-windows version on my system, and ran it for three weeks without any
errors.

This is version x700g.tgz with x700g18.tgz placed on top of it.

Now here is what I did to try and add the daemon version to the system.

I entered the command " tar xvzf tzg/xd700g21.tgz

This appeared to add the new files to the correct directory which is the /bin directory.

Now from the directory /home/fbb I issued the following command without x-windows running.

./xfbb.sh -d &

This did start FBB, but it said that the bind failed because an address was in use.

So, I decided to just go back to my running version and study the problem.

I did have to bring LINUX down and back up again before the xwindows version would run,
but it does run properly.

So, how exactly do you install both versions onto the same machine when that machine already
has a working version of xfbb running and you only want to add the daemon version to
the existing system?

I do not know what address it is complaining about, but I think it said something about some
bind failing.

My system is very simple. I have one interface, just the ether net LAN which goes over to another
FBB machine which is on a WIN98 system.

Only the one port is defined, and I am using port 6300. All works just fine in the xwindows
version, so I do not think anything is wrong with my configuration files. I just think that
there is something that I need to do differently to install both versions on the same system.

Those of you who have both versions running on the same system, how did you add the
"other" version to your running system?

Thanks for you guidance.
