Hi everyone (long time no see),
Sometime during last month Matti Aarnio wrote:

During this month Google has now requested some 16k pages out of the
33782 pages in the archives, and the search interface says it has around
6k pages of hes.iki.fi in it's searchable index (it takes a while for the
downloaded pages to get added to the production searchable index). The
search should be useful by now, at least all the monthly index pages
should be there, so I've now added the google customizable search forms to
the mailing list archives at http://hes.iki.fi/archive/.
I had quite some trouble getting ht://dig to actually produce a working
index of the largish set of pages, and some more trouble in getting it in
an usable configuration (not needing to create a full new index every
night - it took more than single a night to do so 8-). And then ht://dig
had some security problems too, and I gave up with it. I guess google will
do the trick well enough (not in a daily updated fashion, though). Happy
searching! 8-)
