Compiling Perl/Tk800.024 on RH9 ?

Has anyone been successful compiling either perl/Tk800.024 or perl/Tk402.004
on a RH9 platform? I keep getting an error "missing separator" from the
Makefile. Doing the "perl Makefile.PL" runs just fine. This did work on a
RH7.3 box. If I add a '=' after the 2 effected lines I still get a libpTk.a
error.

I would like to get my WXNET (weather station) client back up and need the
current Tk to do so.
