I've had a WinRadio 1550E for I guess two years, and it's a fair receiver
-- the strong signal handling performance is fairly dismal, and I have some
situations where it seems like the PLL goes out of lock or something and
you get a lot of grunge on the audio.
The software is pretty open, but the hardware isn't -- they don't provide
any schematics so, for example, getting an IF signal out is pretty hard.
The linux stuff is promising, but it seems like the work fizzled out and
it's not all that usable at present, if you want to do the things a normal
radio user would expect.
