Thanks, Tomi, for your opinion. I decided the same as you and
bought the Rascal kit. With the included cables & parts, I think
it would cost about the same or even a little more to buy the
individual components myself. Last night I took an hour or two,
put it together and was able to test it out with a PSK31 session.
So I can safely say now that I'd recommend the kit. The web site

The enclosure, by the way, is not a fancy one. It looks like one
of those plastic soap holders you use for travel. :-) But it
serves its purpose. There is some velcro as well to fasten down
the board, and you get a small decorative ring to insert in a hole
where the tx led shows through. It's a nice little kit, with
detailed instructions, and even a diskette with Windows based
freeware - maybe not useful for us on this group, but nice for him
to throw in.
Ok, enough of my mini product review. Now on to getting packet
going on my laptop!
