The official Linux radio apps site and replacement for the HAM-HOWTO is:

    http://radio.linux.org.au

I think you'll find most things there, although there is the odd app that
isn't listed there, they are few. Sometimes a Google search will reveal
a new or obscure app and at times http://freshmeat.net will have gems as
    well.

As a rule that works. XMLog is a notable exception. Some older X +
Motif apps used the xm prefix so a Windows app borrowing it seems odd.
I'm sure there's a good reason for the name.

In general, Linux GUI apps that start with an X will work with any
window manager/desktop. A lot of KDE apps start with a K and likewise
with GNOME apps starting with a G. Fortunately, KDE and GNOME apps can
mostly be run outside of their environments as long as the library
dependencies are met. As an example, I use PAN a GNOME newsreader, but
am not running GNOME or KDE. A distribution that does a good job of
managing dependecies with make those "desktop" based apps nearly
    transparent.
