You mean that every single thing (ax25d, call, ifconfig, axattach,
syslog, iplogger) would call the same device the same name is bad?
I think it would be a good idea. I hate, for example that my interface
on a Sun is called a hme or a qfe or a eri or some wierdo one depending
on what hardware is used.
