error in 'make' ax25-apps-0.0.4

Following the instructions in the AX25-HOWTO:
 # cd /usr/src
 # tar xzvf ax25-apps-0.0.4.tar.gz
 # cd ax25-apps-0.0.4
 # ./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --localstatedir=/var
 # make
 # make install
 # make installconf (if you want to install the configuration files)

I get the following error when I run 'make':

call.c: In function `start_ab_download':
call.c:467: storage size of `ft' isn't known
call.c:495: warning: implicit declaration of function `mktime'
call.c:467: warning: unused variable `ft'
make[2]: *** [call.o] Error 1
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make: *** [all-recursive-am] Error 2
