    Hi,

With recent developments going in the direction of using the PCI bus
interface, I thought it would be good to highlight the "old" ISA
    alternative.

Given the fact that new PC mainboards don't have ISA slots anymore,
I think that a PCI SCC card is something that is really needed by many of
    us.
I think it is good that the PCISCC4 is available through the Baycom group.
But it is very unfortunate that the card is still expensive.

I would like to point out that there are less expensive alternatives for
a high speed packet interface if you still have an ISA slot available.

http://lea.hamradio.si/~s53rm/S5-SCC_DMA.htm This card has the ability to
do DMA, and has a built-in manchester modem.
I'm using card like this for 76k8 bps, but without using the built-in
manchester modem. I use a G3RUH type modem. The components for the
built-in manchester modem are not mounted on the SCC, and a simple adapter
cable is used to interface with the G3RUH type modem.
    see http://sharon.esrac.ele.tue.nl/pub/packet/s5scc_mod/

And that concludes my 2 cents on the topic of SCC cards for high speed
    packet :-)
