I had problems with kernel 2.4.7 on RedHat 7.2; I wasn't able to keep
a 12 hours uptime and I wasn't using the AX25 stuff. I updraged to
kernel 2.4.9-13 and didn't had a problem since then (2 days ago). You
may want to install the new kernel. It's available at:
http://www.redhat.com/support/errata/RHSA-2001-142.html
RedHat released kernel 2.4.9-21 two days ago (certainly a few hours
after I upgraded to 2.4.9-13...), I didn't tried it:

If you have troubles downloading from RedHat's ftp server, you can
use this fast mirror:
ftp://speakeasy.rpmfind.net/linux/redhat/updates/7.2/en/os/
Hope this helps,
