There is always NEWQPSK/Q15X25... No slip interface but also no modem
hardware needed (my implementation is soundcard based). I have used it
several times for email-over-imap-over-ssh-over-tcpip-over-ax25 on 80m
over a ~300km (one time ~1000km) path. Darn slow but works if the
multipath isn't too bad.
