Hi Wilbert,
I had precisely the same dream. Unfortunately, you can just about forget
IP/PACTOR, it's just too slow to be very useful.

KISS isn't inferior to hostmode at all, just designed for a completely
different purpose. They're both pretty weak where it matters.

As described in another message, I figured the best approach to integration was
to build an automated protocol gateway. I've pretty much achieved that with
Rose. Rose was good choice for a couple of reasons that I'm feeling too lazy to
discuss at present, but I'll get into at some point if you're interested.
