Of course I built kernel with ax25 enabled. How could I use ax25 in any
other way? ;-)
OK, you probably wanted to ask if I compiled ax25 into the kernel or into
modules. Well, I do compile everything I just can into modules.

Haven't tried with older versions. And here comes the most relevant
details what I used on the real ham pc for 2.4 kernel tests:
distribution: Debian 3.0 (codename: sid)
kernel: 2.4.16 and 2.4.17
ax25-apps: 0.0.5
ax25-tools: 0.0.8
libax25: 0.0.9
Was slightly different on two other pc's I used to check the problem but
failed the same way. (libax 0.0.8 perhaps, I can't recall it exactly right
now)
