Hello linux user and happy new year!
After my recent upgrade of Red Hat 7.2 (Enigma) I noticed
errors attempting to compile daemontools (a qmail package)
new Enigma comes providing the following compiler elements:
[marco@linux marco]$ gcc --version
2.96
[marco@linux marco]$ make --version
GNU Make version 3.79.1, by Richard Stallman and Roland McGrath.
Built for i386-redhat-linux-gnu
[marco@linux marco]$ ld -v
GNU ld version 2.11.90.0.8 (with BFD 2.11.90.0.8)
[marco@linux marco]$ rpm -qa |grep glibc
glibc-2.2.4-13
glibc-common-2.2.4-13
glibc-devel-2.2.4-13
the errors from daemontools compile attempt are:
./compile tai64nlocal.c
tai64nlocal.c: In function `main':
tai64nlocal.c:54: warning: assignment makes pointer from integer without
a cast
tai64nlocal.c:55: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
tai64nlocal.c:56: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
tai64nlocal.c:57: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
tai64nlocal.c:58: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
tai64nlocal.c:59: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
tai64nlocal.c:60: dereferencing pointer to incomplete type
make: *** [tai64nlocal.o] Error 1
Wonder if you have some explanations to these errors and
if have I to come back to older gcc versions as indicated by:
/usr/src/linux/Documentation/Changes:
The recommended compiler for the kernel is egcs 1.1.2 (gcc 2.91.66)
Thanks and have a nice 2002!
