    Hello,
i've put all(i hope) of my configuration and a simple packet_soundmodem.sh script that i
use with my linux 2.4.16 debian(stable).
            You can check it at

                    http://www.co.it.pt/~slug/packet/

so it might give you some tips.

I used a SoundBlaster 16 and now i'm using a cheap "one chip" Opti
C931 card with PTT activated by a Vox circuit connected to one of the
    output channels.
I'm inserting the modules "by hand" but you can also instruct the
    kernel to load it automagically

                            Cheers,
                                    Nuno Sucena
