I have the same feeling myself. Ever since I left the UK I haven't used any packet radio. With the
availability of cheap broadband Internet access, I haven't felt the need to get involved in the
pit of politics and bullshit that is packet radio. I may add that I am talking about my experiences
in the UK, and has no relation to how packet radio may or may not be in Zurich.
I have since got back into weak signal work on microwaves and enjoying myself far more. I
think the future of computers with amateur radio is not with packet but with weak signal work,
for example DSP of various sorts, and with new non-packet data modes like PSK-31.
Having got that off my chest I feel much better.
