ax25 problem

    My name is Roland,ON6HH,sysop dxcluster (dxspider) ON0DXK
    Using ax25 towards xnet-node I have unwanted disconnects in case more then +- 35 a 40 users
    are connected to the cluster.
    Investigating ax25 parameters I see parameters in my system not documented in the latest
    AX-25 Howto:
    I am using RedHat 6.1 kernal : 2.2.12-20 and 'ax25-utils-2.1.42a-4.i386'

    This is my /proc/sys/ax25/ax0 directory :

    There are 2 more parameters :
    protocol value=0
    dama_slave_timeout value= 18000

    What means protocol = 0 ?
    The dama parameter I understand ,no problem.
    But "connect_mode" has a default value of 2 ! In ax25-howto i see values 0 or 1 !
    What means "connect_mode" .Where can I find more about ?
