not a radio problem

    Hi,

    Although this is not a radio problem I do think it is valid to use this
    list, because I normally collect my linux-hams mail from within Linux:

    I recently updated from RH 6.2 (kernel 2.2.14) to RH 7.1 (kernel 2.4.9).
    Since then and without changing any configuration files I cannot access my
    pop3 server to collect mail.
    No problems with sending mail or connecting to the internet.
    I have tried Netscape, Balsa, fetchmail without any results and I am at a
    loss what could be wrong.
    Balsa does not come up with an error message, netscape tells me that the
    server (mail.ion.com.au) refuses the netscape connection, try again later!
    The error message of fetchmail may throw a light on the subject if I could
    interpret its meaning: 'fetchmail: Query status=2(SOCKET)'

    Can someone help?
