Now this is somewhat dependant on where and on what kind of system your
connecting from. And if I remember correctly not at all from a firmware node
(ie: TheNet, x1J, etc,).
I'e found in most software nodes, that when trying to connect to a another
software node which has L3 and L4 connectability disabled, the connection
fails because it sources the netrom route as opposed to the ax25 connect.
This includes the fact that you added the port in the connect request.
However an ax25 connection can be had if the remote is accepting this type
of connection, by making the call to port and the node mnemonic dash sid
making an ax25 connection. In the case of where the last hop would be
through a firmwware node, digipeat from the last software node.
Example connection to a netrom (handicapped?) node from say a linuxnode.
C vhf #REM01-1
or digipeating
C vhf #REM01-1 D0IGI-2
Hope this makes sense:-)
