When you ftp'd it across, did you do an ASCII or BINARY transfer? You
need to do a BINARY transfer to get them across successfully.
One clue is that the file as transferred across to the Windows machine
is physically larger than the one on the Linux machine, which always
happens with ASCII transfers. When a BINARY transfer is done, the two
copies will be exactly the same size.
