AX25 on 2 meters is still quite widley used in MARS (at least in the
northeast US) and I for one would like to see a more robust platform
than JNOS-on-DOS for it. Of course it is also used for DX clusters
and with better documentation we might start seeing more of the
logging packages being made available for Linux.
I've been looking at ways of tying PACTOR email forwarding into AX25
BBS forwarding (both used in MARS still, and even TCP/IP over AX25)
and being able to get AX25 working would make this easier, since
Linux Sendmail is certainly powerful enough of a middleman.
1200 bps is plenty fast if all you are doing is email.
