It was not meant to be harsh or rude really but i get your point.

Well like i said, we firstly had config files in /usr/local then they were
all changed to go into /etc/ax25 by default, then suddenly the default was
back to /usr/local, as to why i have no clue, there is just the INSTALL file
which says IF you require /usr/ as the bin dir and /etc/ax25 as the config
dir then use the example line below with ./configure.

Yes i agree there, as per the explaination above obviously linpac was
written with /etc/ax25 in mind at that time when /etc/ax25 was the "default"
config dir.
This is not the first time this problem has cropped up and i expect it is not
going to be the last. Before someone askes me just which dir is supposed to
be the default i just dont know, i suppose i am as confused as the rest.
