            That is indicative of your omission of running
                    ./configure (--with-options)
            at the source package.

            THOSE *.in FILES ARE NOT FOR CASUAL MANUAL EDITING!
            They are part of automated configuration management
            system which you are supposed to use to get things
            into working order.

            Is there no README, or INSTALL, or any such document
            file around in the source package ? Or you simply didn't
            care to read any ?
