Same problem here with an ISA Vibra16 and ES1371 with kernel 2.4.5.

I've tryed with serial module and serial build in kernel but the PTT not
    successfull switch.

After go back to kernel 2.2.19 all is ok.

After reading through the archives I know you folks must be real tired of
soundmodem questions but I've got another one.

    Problem:
Whenever the PTT line is required to go on it only flashes on for a few
10ths of a second. Ex: Using the o'scope window to toggle the PTT causes
the transmit audio to come out clear but the PTT line only strobes once

Tom Manninen has pointed out to me in private that this sounds like a
sound driver problem. I'm using kernel 2.4.5 with a SBlive [emu10k1.o] and
a Creative Vibra 16 [sb.o]. Both soundcards fail in the same way. I've
been trying to get a 2.2.x kernel up but my RedHat 7.1 system can't seem
to compile pre 2.4 kernels at all. I'd like to get a second opinion
before I wipe the hd clean and start back at RedHat 7.0 just to run
a 2.2 kernel. I'm going to give the ALSA drivers a swing before I
    start from scratch.

Is there anybody out there running soundmodem with a 2.4.x kernel? If
could you reply to me [in private if you like for the list's sake] with
exactly what type of soundcard your using and exactly which kernel your
    running?

I'd really, really like to get soundmodem going. I've been trying for a
week now. I have a windoze box but it is afflicted with the
soundmodem-Flexnet32 no-transmit bug that has been mentioned on the
Flexnet mailing list. Nobody seems to understand that one either but
at least I'm not the only one with that problem. Between
two operating systems and two completely different computers one would
guess that I could get one soundmodem incarnation to transmit normally but
    they would be wrong.
