I wonder if any kernel Guru can advise on overcoming a little annoyance ?

Despite a 'make clean' and recompile of the latest ax25 kit with Kernel
2.4.4 (and previous releases of 2.4.x), when shutting down I often get
    screen messages of the form:

unregister_netdevice: waiting for ax0 to become free. Usage count = x

where 'x' mostly varies as a number between 3 and 10. This seems to be
coming from the unregister_netdevice function in linux/net/core/dev.c

I'm using ax25 as a 'module' rather than compiling it in with the kernel.

Kernels of the 2.2.x series behave normally.

    Many thanks,

    73, Gareth.
