    A reasonable explanation for the failure could be that your system automaticly
    assigns IRQ 7 to your printer by way of adding the lp, parport_pc modules to
    your system.
    You can see what modules are loaded 'lsmod' and check to see if the IRQ is in
    use with, 'cat /proc/initterupts'.

    Then use windows to see which address are used, note them down and add them
    accordingly to /etc/z8530drv.conf
