Hi Cees and others. I have replied direct to Cees my results.

For others I had to derive a compromise after Cees's information. My
original ifconfig
statement was :- /sbin/ifconfig bpq0 <ipaddr> hw ax25 g3orh-5 and though I
played with this line trying to modify it to Cees's idea I found I had to
keep this line intact.

I therefore added a line /sbin/ifconfig eth0 <ipaddr> broadcast <ipaddr>
netmask 255.255.255.0 allmulti up and bpqether now works. I think it still
might need tidying
to be absolutely correct and allow eth0 to work for other non amateur
traffic but for now it works and many thanks to Cees.
