Well, in Linux 2.2.18 (which shouldn't be too different), there is a
separate section for Amateur Radio Support, in the main "menu" depending on
what you use for the config stage... in menuconfig and xconfig its right
between Network device support and IrDA (infrared). Are you using YaST to
config the kernel? I'm not familiar with configuring the kernel with
YaST. While I don't use SuSE myself I have used it before. I always do
kernel config manually anyway (cd /usr/src/linux, make menuconfig, etc)
Go in the section Amateur Radio Support, check the box [ ] Amateur Radio
Support,
and a few more options pop up including AX.25 L 2.
So you are right its not in Networking, Amateur Radio support has its own
section. :)
