what does the "frame" column of /proc/net/dev say? I haven't looked
at ifconfig sources lately. The "frame" number in /proc/net/dev is the
sum of four different error counters - crc error and ring buffer overflow
being the most likely. (see src/linux/net/core/dev.c).
You can get rid of the ring buffer overflow by increasing NUM_TX_BUF.
Try that.
