Hi, Peter:
I've dabbled with linux for years. My first kernel was 1.2.13.
When I read that AX.25 was 'standard and native', I became ever more
enthused about linux. I've run a packet radio BBS for over 12 years.
I wanted to do this with linux. F6FBB has ported his fine pBBS
application to DOS, Windows and Linux. I've run each of these
ports (but not with linux with a TNC). I've installed and run many
different kernels; 1.2.x, 2.0.x and now 2.2.17, and I have not yet
needed to 'fool around with source code!!!!'.

Essentially, I want to use a KISSed TNC-2 clone with a linux
application; without utilizing knowledge of 'compiling options'.
I like ham radio.
I like packet radio.
I like computers.
I like linux.
I am embarrassed that it is this difficult to enable linux to let
an application use a KISSed TNC-2 clone.

An excerpt from http://www.linuxdoc.org/HOWTO/AX25-HOWTO.html
"The Linux Operating System is perhaps the only operating system in
the world that can boast native and standard support for the AX.25
packet radio protocol utilised by Amateur Radio Operators worldwide.
This document aims to describe how to install and configure this
support."
When it said 'native and standard support', I assumed that it meant
I didn't need programming skills, debugging skills, or needed to
edit .c, .cpp, .h source code or edit shell scripts. It seems to
me that you are suggesting that I need these skills to
utilize AX.25 with linux. :-|
