Well, I think I have solved it. It was hardware trouble.
Replacing the transistors in Thomas Sailer's circuit with a more common
(and very cheap) 2N2222 got it working. The Hfe on BC237 Equivalent, ECG
123AP, that Active Electronics sold me was only 6 (rated at 200). Well
something good came out of it, now we know that cheap 2N2222 work (Thomas
Sailer, would you like to make a note of that on your web page?)
Tommorrow, I am going to pick up better hook-up wire and do it right, what
I have is either too large or too small.
That's Murphy's law, isn't it? ask for help in a public forum and then you
finally figure it out for yourself.
