    Hi Folks,

Here goes another problem (Probably only Thomas Sailer has answers to
    this):

I have built 2 modems Baycom EPPFlex to put them to work at 76800bps.
I had some problems to put them to work, but because of software
    problems.
I have 3 computers and I describe them here:
        #1 - Workstation w/ MotherBoard Intel and Pentium/133;
              Linux 2.2.14, module baycom_epp.o v0.3
              (Tested also User Driver baycomepp-0.8.tar.gz)
        #2 - Workstation w/ M/B Assus and PentiumIII/500;
              FlexNet on DOS
        #3 - Portable Toshiba CDT4xxx.
              FlexNet on DOS
              Linux 2.2.14, module baycom_epp.o v0.3
              (Tested also User Driver baycomepp-0.8.tar.gz)

I've tested the two modems and the same time, each one connected to a
computer, and both connected via a cross-link cable.

The problems arised with the parallel ports.

Computer #1 gave random EPP timeouts during eppfpga tests and
after configuring interface, both kernel driver or latest user driver.
It only works a number of random seconds.
These tests were made with diferent port configs (EPP, ECP ECP+EPP).

Computer #2 turns in "Slow Motion" after configuring starting
program FLEX in Flexnet/DOS. Modem doesn't transmit either.
I have to make more tests because it can be a BIOS misconfiguration.

Computer #3 works very well in FlexNet with Windows loaded and FlexIP
      active.
In Linux it doesn't work with kernel driver because module
parport reports the parallel port 0x378 has no EPP mode, which is
true according to BIOS (only appears SPP and ECP). Using
"User Mode Driver" (v0.8) it works very well too.

I want to solve the problem with Computer #1, but I must know if this
is a MotherBoard/BIOS or want is it.
BTW, using module baycom_epp.o it doesn't work without some patches in
the startup. When module is used (ifconfig up) calls /sbin/eppfpga,
with some arguments, to start EPPFLex Modem. I have found that the
calling of /sbin/eppfpga is something like this:

      /sbin/eppfpga -s -p 888 -m extclk,intmodem,divider=xxx,extstat
                          ^^^
             I know it's the same as 0x378

I have made a shell script called /sbin/eppfpga that starts
the real "eppfpga" program but my parameters. Inside the script goes
    this:

      /usr/sbin/eppfpga2 -s -p 888
            -m extclk,intmodem,fclk=19660800,bitrate=76800,extstat

Doing this patch the modem starts work in computer #1, but
with EPPs timeouts. It only works between 1 second and about 1 minute.
I have to add to this that make the tests with real "eppfpga" some don't
work (berr, sine1k, etc) giving the same timeout. The test called "led"
alternates between CON and STA. The led CON never lights.
Using "User mode driver" appears a background process message saying
"Modem timeout". After that the interface disappears.

Anyone has any experience with this?
Sorry for writing a message so long, but it the only way to get things
    clear.
