That version in itself had problems as well, they were debugged as you
call it "years" ago. Terry Dawson issued a patch for that archive its called
net-tools-1.33.rose.tjd.diff.gz, dont get confused by its name, anyway,
before you start trying to install them, see first IF you really need them.
netstat -V
Will show you the version number of netstat as well as the net-tools
version. It will also show you supported protocols.
I would persoanly try the installed utils first before even thinking of
installing newer versions.
Like i said in my previous mail, you should really think of upgrading your
slackware-3.9.
