IIRC, there were compatibility problems with some of that stuff on
glibc systems. I expect that the reason nobody has done much with
updating ax25-utils-2.1.42a is that it is now severely obsolete (it is
only used with later 2.0 kernels, while most people are running 2.2
kernels and 2.4 should be out shortly).
