    Hello everybody!

This is the first time I'm trying to use this list so I hope I don't do
    anything wrong....

I would like to use my soundcard to be able to work digital modes both
on HF and VHF. My first question is: which modes are possible to work on
HF via the soundmodem (pactor, amtor, rtty or whatever)?

I have Redhat 6.2 kernel 2.2.14-5.0 and have installed
ax25-utils-2.1.42a via rpm:s. I have tried to follow the instructions in
ax25-howto but not whith succes all the way as it seems. I have a device
sm0 when I do the ifconfig command but when I try to put a signal to the
soundcard and test it via the smdiag utility it will not work. The
smdiag only sometimes start a x-window and then the osciloscope doesn't
show the input signal, but most of the times it will not start a
x-window. I've read that the soundcard is rather critical and I'm not
sure which type I have. My second question is: is there a way to test if
my soundcard works with the soundmodem-drivers?

My third question is: is there anyone who have any other suggestions who
    I can go on?
