    The install program does not look for the ncurses lib (as i see it), it
    looks for a souce file in /usr/include

    With the above error message one can conclude that you dont have a file
    called /usr/include/curses.h which is normaly installed by every distro.
    The second error comes automaticly as the install script carries on after
    its 'cc' line failed.

    They are in /usr/lib on a standard Slackware-7.0 system so i presume thats
    where they will reside on others as well.

    They being;

    /usr/lib/libpthread.a
    /usr/lib/libpthread_p.a
    /usr/lib/libpthread.so

    The whole package installs perfectly here on my slackware-7.0 system.
