YAM: Can not init FPGA ?

    hello,
    i have buils all the DG1FEF ax25 lib and tools
    on a RH6.0 with kernel 2.2.14.

    i can load the yam modul an can confiugre it with yamcfg 0.8.

    but when i setup the ax25 system with ifconfig yam0
    i get an error: yam0: can not init FPGA
                    SIOCSIFFLAGS: Input/output error

    Anyone got any clues please ?
