I presume the use and development of the PMS utility for the ax25 set of
programs has gone non exsitant or has gone to a priority level so low it
    has been forgotten.

Now this mail may not be very informative as to the PMS we hams know, but i
    saw this at freshmeat today.

PMS (Perl Mail Sorter) is designed to provide the same basic features as procmail (i.e. sorting incoming mail into
specified mailboxes), it provides a more "basic" approach to this task. The config file is more human readable,
and does not provide as many advanced features as procmail does, which helps to keep simple tasks simple.
The main purpose of this program is to provide and quick & easy way to get your mail filtered when you don't
have any use for the power, and complexity, of procmail.

       Urgency: low

This is not the first time a progam name has been used by different authors
for different means, i remember the XPR packet program a couple of years
ago, that was seemingly also the same name as another completly different
program whch caused the origanal xpr program to get over written upon
    installing the packet xpr.

I am a little bit ignorant on who regulates program names, (if indeed any
regulation is in force) (( and considering linux now has a trademark)) and
considering the speed in which new programs are appiering for linux, this
    problem is going to continue.

    1) Sorry, YES it may be off topic.
    2) Does anyone know if a program name can be registered so that this sort
        of problem can be avioded.
    3) It was just a coinsidence i discovered it anyway.

CC'd to Alan Cox as i belive he wrote the origanal PMS mail box program of
    which i still use.
