Xforms tools, where?

Hi and thanks for reading this msge.

I am trying to set up AX25 on a laptop computer with Mandrake 6.0

Unfortunately the GCC compiler won't compile the ax25 utils
(2.1.42a). It crashes at CALL.C complaining that SOL_AX25 is
    undeclared.

I suspect it is because I don't have Xforms installed. It's not on the
Mandrake CD according to the RPM database, and I haven't had
any luck on the net either with radio.linux.org.au, the Mandrake
home page or www.linux.com. Any pointers greatly appreciated.

Another question: the AX25 how2 explains how to compile the
ax25 stuff into the kernel. But I notice DG7FER's ax25 config
package produces scripts that attempt to load the drivers as
modules. Does that mean I can skip the kernel compilation? The
how2 assumes Kernels 2.0.x, I am using 2.2.9 and would be
reluctant to go to an old kernel.
