    This highlights my question about the size of buffers statically allocated by
    hdlcdrv at 400 bytes - here is someone assuming he can set an MTU of 512.
    I found the 2.2.13 kernel actually worked OK but I've still no clue why - it
    SHOULD give a buffer overrun.
