<---You might want to consider some of the off-the-shelf wireless products
that will do this. And since they're not in the ham bands, using ssh
shouldn't be a problem. Something like the Richochet system (which encrypts
anyway),

Besides, isn't 1200 baud pretty slow for the amount of traffic you'll
probably be using?
