The 6pack driver version 0.3.0, which is contained in the 2.2.x Linux
kernels is not the latest one, but I did not yet replace it in the
official kernel source tree. I have released a
new version 0.4.2 which is actually still a separate package.
It is available via anonymous ftp on:
ftp://ftp.ccac.rwth-aachen.de/pub/ajk/6pack-0.4.2.tgz
Copy the file to /usr/src (or whereever your Linux source
directory is located) and untar it, then compile the kernel as usual.
Hopefully the performance is better with this version.
