Yep, it would be about 3 lines of code that should of been in there to
test the errno. Strangely enough, I do not get those errors in
ax25-apps even though the code is the same.

ncurses over a xterm does wierd things, so probably no.

I have nearly finished a X-based listen program which should do what you
are after.
