2.2.? kernel problem resolved

At last I am happy. After trying to fix a problem with the new
kernel or the ax25-utils I discovered my problem was with my file
/ext/rc.d/rc.serial in which I put the wrong kind of serial port for ttyS2
and ttyS3.

Kernel 2.0.36 doesn't care if you call a serial port a 16550. But
kernel 2.2.? cares a lot. If the port is really a 14450 it works in a
wierd way, allowing packets in, but not out.

So I changed rc.serial to call them 16450 ports and everything
works fine. My call works and ping works and so does everything now. I am
switching to Red Hat 6 today.

Still have a lot of things to get set properly but that will be
fun. Beating my head against a stone wall was not...:-)

Best wishes
