} ax25-utils fails to find stuff in /etc/ax25/axports.
That would explain the problem. But there is no place to put an ip
number in axports. In the file I load the ax25 util's with every call has
an ip number in the call.
Something to do with
} the SIOCGIOCONF ioctl not working unless the port has an IP address
} assigned. Try assigning one (even if you don't use it). Also, the
} socket(AF_INET, SOCK_PACKET) calls need to change to socket(AF_AX25,SOCK_PACKET) or something like that. Here's an incomplete SOURCE RPM that I set up.

Well I will get your patches Alan and look at them. Alas I am
using Red Hat 5.2 so I have the glibc problem too. It looks to me like the
new kernel has made the OLD, ie: 1.5 year old ax25 utils obselete.
I wish I was good enough to re-write them for glibc and the new
kernel but I'm not.
12 years ago I was on your campus with my son. He was thinking of
playing basketball there but went to Colorado State instead. I think NY
was more than he was willing to handle...:-)
