FYI, down here in France, DELL offers a RedHat ready PC line, préinstalled
just as a std WIN9x/NT computer.
DELL can sell to corporations a WIN9x/NT PC with any MS product (office, etc)
the company wants preinstalled. A big gvt research organisation in France
asked DELL if they would offer Linux préinstalled PCs, as they've choosen
this platform in lieu of the SUN/HP/DECstations. The research org (CNRS)
provided DELL a configured PC, and now DELL just clones the PC to suit
the needs.
To buy a windows free PC is feasible, you need a minimun volume to convince
the manufacturer.
