I have recently (last weekend) upgraded the local BBs from Win FBB to
xFbbd. This went very smoothly, and the speed difference is massive.
The current configuration is now: Kernel 2.0.35
z8530drv 3.0.1
xFbb 7.00g21
mgetty 1.0.0
ax25utils 2.1.42a
In order to allow remote dialup access to the system, and Fbb, I have used
mgetty, with an alias of "bbs" which telnets to localhost port 6300. This
allows
normal bbs users to enter BBS at the login prompt to then be prompted for
their callsign and password, without having to have their own accounts on
the linux box. However, using this route, I have two questions:
1) It will not allow a Y or Z Modem through this port, only
YAPP. Is it possible to change this?
2) What terminal emulation does FBB support on the Telnet port,
as when using VT100, all backspaces are shown as ^H,
thereby causing invalid commands as it is trying to
interpret these on the command line.
These also happen with telnet over Ethernet.
Also, Carl Makin issued a message about performing a loop from the node to
give a BBS command, which used two ptys linked via mkiss (snippet follows:)
> Here's my axports;
> p4800 vk1kcm-12 4800 255 4 144.800 MHz (4800 bps)
> loop1 l00p-1 0 255 7 Loop Back Port 1
> loop2 l00p-2 0 255 7 Loop Back Port 2
> node.conf
> Alias dxc "c loop2 vk1kcm-5"
> Interface startup script
> # Attach the BBS loopback devices.
> kissattach -i 44.136.1.1 /dev/ptypf loop1
> kissattach -i 44.136.1.1 /dev/ptype loop2
> and how I start the mkiss daemon.
> mkiss /dev/ttypf /dev/ttype &
> In FBB/dxnet (whatever) you just attach "loop1" as a standard radio port.
I am trying this, but unfortunately get an error (I believe from
TIOCTLxxxx - but will need to check, I am at work!). Has anybody else had
this type of problem? Has anybody managed to cure it? I do not know if I
have to recreate the existing pty devices, but if so, I do not know what
major and minor numbers to create them with...
I can attach these devices using kissbridge (for axip), and therefore know
that they exist....
Any help would be much appreciated.
