I was able to get nrattach to work with your help. Very stupid
problem on my part. I didn't have netrom compiled into the kernel. That
fixed that problem.

Now I have been getting an error message form "mheard" that it can't
open
mheard data file.

-----------my software versions are:------------------

linux 2.0.29
ax25-utils-2.0.12c

------------my shell script "packet" executes these commands as
follows:-------

#!/bin/sh
/usr/sbin/axattach /dev/ttyS3 radio
nrattach netrom
mheardd -f -n 20 -l
/usr/sbin/netromd -l
cat /proc/net/nr_neigh

-----------the output of the above commands is as follows:------------

GodSpell:~# packet
AX.25 port radio bound to device sl0
NET/ROM port netrom bound to device nr0
addr callsign dev qual lock count
GodSpell:~#

---------I get this error message from mheard--------
GodSpell:~# mheard
mheard: cannot open mheard data file
GodSpell:~#

-------my config files location and content are as
follows:----------------
/etc/ax25/axports
radio KF0XB-0 9600 256 2 145.05MHz

/etc/ax25/nrboroadcast
radio 1 200 10 1

/etc/ax25/nrports
netrom KF0XB-1 LINUX 235 Linux Switch Port

/etc/ax25/heard.dat
/etc/ax25/mheard/heard.dat
(in both locations just to be sure)

TNX again in advance for your help
